Purging OSB Alerts without using WLST

Purging

Normally when I work with the OSB I have WLST scripts at my disposal for purging the (PipeLine) Alerts from the Service Bus Console. If you don’t purge, the DAT file in the domain directory will become huge, and the OSB Console less responsive.

I recently discovered that these scripts aren’t needed at all, and that WebLogic can do it for you. (Why didn’t I know this earlier!?

Go in the Administration Console to Diagnostics -> Archives:

WebLogic Diagnostic Archives

WebLogic Diagnostic Archives

Then, for each OSB server add a Data Retirement Policy:

Data Retirment Policies

Data Retirment Policies

Choose a Custom Archive, and its name is the well known “CUSTOM/com.bea.wli.monitoring.pipeline.alert”. In this case the Alerts older than 14 days (336 hours) are purged every 24 hours at 00:00.

Easier, and cleaner than using WLST scripting if you ask me.
